What is micro blogging and is it worth doing?

Micro blogging is just what is says. It is a short blog that provides useful information to users of your blog or website. It will generally be around 500 words or less if you are feeling uninspired or writing does not flow out of you like lava from a volcano. If you are a business blogger it may be to get a quick point across about a new product or service. If you are an affiliate marketer it might be to get people to your website where they may be tempted by the advertising you provide. Or you might be a charity that is soliciting a new donor. In any event it is important to add value and enrich the reader’s life. A reader does not want to read a short blog that says “Buy my Product!” You don’t like that either. Readers want to have something that will benefit them. Why else would they keep coming back to your blog?

For photographers it is not enough to say spring is coming and you better book your wedding package now. Doesn’t that just seem to sell and who wants to be sold? You may be better off telling your prospective buyer about the new location you found to shoot beautiful weddings. You could write a few short informative paragraphs about “What Brides Forget” or let brides know about a new popular photographic technique like “trash the dress”. You could include a spring wedding season count down but never would I come out and say “book it now”

Micro blogging is often all the time you have to write and generally it is better to write a short article than not. It’s all about quality, getting people to your site and holding their interest.

Additionally micro blogging adds authority to your website and has the potential to increase your rankings in search engines. I’m a believer in well linked pages and a large volume of pages as well. Google calls it “brand stacking”. Size has never hurt Amazon or eBay and it won’t hurt you. It will keep your readers on your website longer and Google recognises this and it adds the secret algorithm scoring system they have (people call it panda)

So his is my micro post and here is what I’ve done to make it valuable to you.

1. I mentioned that the experience should be enriching to the reader not a sales job, Draw your reader in and they will follow.

2. I reminded you about writing with the reader in mind “People want to know what’s in it for me?” Why would anyone want to read what you have read if there was little benfit to them?

3. I gave specific ideas for photographers to blog about. Don’t forget the title perks interest

4. I mentioned how it can help your search engine results. Remember to keep it at least 400 words and 500 words are better.

5. I didn’t keep you too long. Has it been even 5 minutes?

Not bad in just 518 words!
